Thomas A. Morrissey was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in the western suburb of Oak Park, where in 1977 he graduated from Fenwick High School. In 1981, he graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with Magna Cum Laude Honors and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. While at Marquette, Mr. Morrissey was the recipient of the Charles E. (Chick) Evans Scholarship.

In 1985, Mr. Morrissey earned his Juris Doctor from De Paul University College of Law in Chicago. After graduation, Mr. Morrissey worked for the Illinois Attorney General where he successfully defended state employees in civil cases in both State and Federal courts. Upon leaving there, Mr. Morrissey went to work for a large Chicago law firm that specialized in representing defendants in medical malpractice, product liability, and general negligence cases. In representing corporations and hospitals, Mr. Morrissey learned the methods by which defendants and their insurers defend cases brought by injured parties.
